<p>Large numbers of the Aboriginal children who were sent to residential schools never returned to their home communities. Some of these children ran away, while others died at the schools. The exact number of children who died at school may never be known, but the death rates for many schools, particularly during times of epidemic or disease, were very high.</p>
<p>Sometimes parents never found out what happened to their children. The students who did not return have come to be known as the Missing Children. Working with Survivors and Aboriginal organizations, the Missing Children Projects is documenting the deaths and the burial places of children who died while attending the schools.</p>
<p>To date the TRC has identified the names of, or information about, more than 4,100&nbsp;children who died of disease or accident while attending a residential school.</p>

<p>L’histoire du Canada comporte des zones d’ombre assez horribles. De <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Canada">l’esclavage</a> — <a href="https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1269942/esclavage-canada-noirs-autochtones-histoire">voir aussi</a> (<a href="/david/cache/2021/a950ddcb816cf0593893120ffa6b56cd/">cache</a>) — à la <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compulsory_sterilization_in_Canada">stérilisation</a>, la colonisation s’est faite avec une brutalité dont je ne découvre que depuis récemment une partie de son histoire, celle que l’on ne retrouvera probablement pas dans les livres d’Histoire&nbsp;:</p>

En lisant <a href="https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_r%C3%A9paratrice">la page wikipedia française</a>, j’apprends qu’il pourrait y avoir un <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restorative_justice#In_criminal_cases">lien local</a> avec <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restorative_justice#Precursors_in_indigenous_groups">l’origine</a> de ce concept et sa potentielle <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restorative_justice#Victim-offender_dialogue">mise</a> en <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restorative_justice#Circles_of_Support_and_Accountability">application</a>.</p>

<p>Au-delà des chiffres, il y a ce constat à la lecture du <a href="https://www.ienearth.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Indigenous-Resistance-Against-Carbon-2021.pdf">rapport</a> (PDF, 4&#8239;Mo, <a href="/static/david/2021/Indigenous-Resistance-Against-Carbon-2021.pdf">cache</a>) que (seule&#8239;?) la lutte fonctionne. Merci aux personnes qui <em>sont</em> cette lutte, qui incarnent la résistance dont nous avons besoin pour survivre.</p>
<p>Imaginez un peu si la <a href="/david/2021/09/13/" title="Démission">grande démission</a> se transformait en grande action collective… on pourrait appeler ça le Grand Matin pour changer un peu.</p>

<p>En créant un espace de <a href="/david/2021/09/01/" title="Rentrée">discussion entre parents</a>, cela nous a permis d’élargir aussi le champ des interactions et d’introduire le politique dans notre groupe.</p>
<p>C’est l’occasion de partager sur le <a href="https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pensionnats_pour_Autochtones_au_Canada#Journ%C3%A9e_nationale_de_la_v%C3%A9rit%C3%A9_et_de_la_r%C3%A9conciliation">chandail orange</a> et comment l’aborder en famille, de faire circuler des pétitions importantes pour l’école, d’organiser des activités extra-scolaires.</p>
<p>Après une année et demie de Covid, on sent bien que les échanges entre personnes — qui feraient de toute façon partie du même <em>cluster</em> — sont plus rapides et fluides qu’à l’accoutumé.</p>
<p>Une autre forme d’intégration…</p>
